RoundtopRiders hit Big Boulder

Get ready!! It’s going down on December 28th (tomorrow). All of the guys are on break from college and we’re getting EVERYONE up to Big Boulder for a day of shredding in their amazing parks. Look for some media of the event on Saturday. Hope you all can make it there!

Big Boulder on Saturday 11/9

So Big Boulder (The best mountain EVER.) is opening this weekend for some preseason jibbing. I’m SO pumped to finally get riding again. After being in North Carolina for the entire winter last year, i’m freaking ready to kick off this skiing thing again. Time to get some turns in before heading to Killington, VT on Nov. 30th with the Penn State Snowboard Club. It’s going to be an epic trip. So pumped!

Who’s going to Big Boulder this weekend?! Come find me and say hi!

We’ve Got A New Site!!

Hey Everyone,

If you haven’t noticed yet, we’ve got a new site up! I’ve been working nonstop since late January in order to make it happen. I think it turned out amazing and so far the feedback has been exceptional. The new site has a bunch of new features. Specifically, I have revamped the Photo Gallery, Team Member Profiles, and Promos.  I’ve also added a very handy Sidebar which will allow you to keep track of all your important links and updates. You’ll notice on the sidebar that we have a “Recent Updates” section. This section is updated automatically whenever new content is posted onto the site. Whether it be a new video, event, riders photo, or profile update, you’ll see it show up as soon as it’s posted.  This should really help to bring new content out from hiding.

I still have a few things on my list of enchancements that I’d like to do with the new site:

  • Blog Integration - I’d really like to bring the blog INTO the main site. Right now you are taken to a seperate page and it’s just very confusing IMHO. I think bringint it into the site would make things a lot easier  for the user.
  • Photo Of The Week Archive - I’d like to keep track of all the photos of the week with some more information about each photo. This should be easy.. look for this page in a few weeks (maybe less!)

Well, that’s about all I have on the schedule for new features. What do you guys/gals have in mind? Anything you’d like to see that’s not there already?

One of my goals is to use this blog heavily and have members commenting and contributing to the blog as well. So, please sign up and start to participate!

Cheers,

Jason

Kyle Barnoff featured in The PennStater

The Penn Stater is a magazine put out by the Penn State Alumni Association every few months. The magazine primarily goes to PSU Alums and other parents and students attending PSU. Basically, it reaches a crapload of people. If i had to guess, i’d say easily 50,000 people.

Anyways, Barnoff got a featured article in the January/February 2007 edition of the mag. It’s an amazing article which talks a lot about his love for freeskiing and his involvment with RoundtopRiders, Newschoolers, QUICK!, and the PSSC. It’s basically like amazing publicity for everything we are doing.

I have scanned in the article so you guys can check it out. It’s extremely sick.

Congratulations Kyle!!

This is how I view the whole season, and I hope other scholars at my intellectual (sp?) level can relate. The sun is energy for the earth, when sun and water join up with a seed and dirt it can grow food, for us to eat and keep going. Or a plant for some to smoke and make giggle. Anyways this has been by record my worst season of all time and I’m not even hurt. I will try to break this down in a mathematical equation of life.

06-07 season

SKIING+Evan-Steve/Loyd(Snow%Warm Weather) Snowtime management=HORRIBLE ADVERTISEMENT AND NO ATTENTION TO PARKS OR THOSE TRYING TO DO WHAT THEY CAN:SKI ROUNDTOP=SHIT+nothing to film on=no videos+no edtiting skills=BAD SEASON

If you understood that I am pretty frustrated at this point. And I’m hopefully going to shoot some urban tomorrow night. I wish I could get a refund on my pass at Roundtop.

Urbanizing Hershey

Three days of canceled school due to 5 inches of pretty much ice = mad urban opportunities. In the past laziness has owned us whenever it snows and we are drawn towards Roundtop. So this snow we decided to be real men and do something worthwhile with the ever bountiful snow/ice if you will. Thursday saw Kurt Heffner, Jake Amato, and myself (Ben Boustred) hit an uber steep downrail at the chocolate factory and the destruction of 2 bombdrops. The next day we went back to the chocolate factory, shnacked on some chocolate and hit another bombdrop and a super sketch roof-ish drop, this little adventure turned into quite a party. Next we ventured over to the outlets to do some shopping quick and a little bar grinding. Faced with speed issues we came back the next day with a dropin which unfortunately didn’t really do much. After a couple hissy fits and failed re-attempts I realized that I sucked at life and called it a day. Besides a few run-ins with; trees, haggard old men that work at railroad tracks, and something called ‘the sun’, it was a successful couple days of air-grinding and rail urbanizing. This ’snow’ does not appear to be going anywhere fast so look for some more urban shenanigans in the near future, well that’s all from me folks. stay classy, your amigo -BennyB.

New Galleries!! PSU Open Article…

Hey Everyone!

Sorry it’s been awhile since I posted on the blog… i’ve been busy updating RR with all the new content that i’ve been receiving over the past few days. So far I’ve gotten 2 new galleries with another gallery and edit on the way soon. Here’s what we’ve got so far:

(1) Hershey Urban Shots - Ben, Jake, Kurt, Galli, and Michelle took full advantage of the snowy weather last week and found a sick downrail, flat rail, and a few gansta bomb drops. Check out the 60+ photos in this gallery. They are truely SICK!

(2) Sunday at Liberty Mountain. Ben Birk sent me yet another gallery (40+ pics) of awesome shots of Evan, Worley, Pat, Tyler, John, and some others that I dont know. Ben got some really sick shots of the jumps and this dope bonk feature that they had in the park. Check these pics out too!!!

Check out the Gallery

Also, check out this sick article in the Daily Collegian (The Penn State Newspaper). It’s about the PSU Open competition this past weekend.
